Pictures from Monday and Tuesday

The Embarcadero "dock" where the panga stopped on our way from the RV park into Mazatlan to meet up with Lee

Other boats at the Embarcadero used to ferry "stuff" from Mazatlan harbor to points unknown, probably over to Stone Island. As I've said before, the drive from Maz to Stone Island is a brutal 45-60 minutetrip, but the panga ride is 5 minutes.

Ellen walking with Lee in Mazatlan. She met us at the dock. Showed us how to use the city bus system to get to the Central part of the city, walked us around to see key landmarks to get our bearings when we visit again, went to several Farmacias to get best prices on our prescriptions, and then stopped for lunch.
Downtown in Old Mazatlan. Very narrow streets and crazy drivers. But one must be crazy in the first place to take a car down there. There are no stop lights or stop signs - it's just drive as you will. One walking must be very careful! The locals seem to be very comfortable with the system and I guess we will get used to it soon. We saw no accidents. Amazing!

The Cathedral in Central Old Mazatlan

Lee is giving Ellen directions to somewhere

Plazeula la Machado. We ate lunch on the sidewalk here. The whole area is full of sidewalk restaurnats all around a park area in the middle. At night they close off the streets and move the tables out here. We will go back!

A little B&B Lee took us to. She is a friend of the owner. However, he was full for the Carnaval and could not help Ellen with a room for her and Patty to stay in overnight while out Carnavaling when she visits later this month. Small restaurant in front is part of the B&B. Lee said it is excellent. Would have had lunch there but it's closed on Monday's.

I'd had enough after four and a half hours and was worried about the dogs. I wanted to go back but Ellen wanted more! So Lee introduced me to hiring a Pulmonia and sent me back to the Embarcadero for the panga ride back to Stone Island. Not much more than a golf cart. Cost - $40 pesos or $3.20 US

Yesterday we drove from the island into Mazatlan for groceries. The traffic was very "heavy" on our way back

At the end of the paved road going to Stone Island there is a huge resort complex just in it's early development stages called Estrella Del Mar. Big hotel, restaurant, condo's, private homes, and golf course right on the ocean! The following are some pictures we took on the way into town to check it out. Restaurant and golf course are open to the public so we will go back for lunch or dinner. Big open air dining room that looks out to the ocean.

Tuesday sunset behind the Stone Islands. Actually the one on the right is Goat Island, the one on the left is ?????, and the big one not in the picture is actually Stone Island around which the little village is situated.

This picture was taken from the same spot as the last but zoomed in on the lighthouse that sits atop the huge rock on the other side of the harbor at the Southern tip of the city of Mazatlan.
