THE WEATHER WE LEFT BEHIND

Friday, January 2, 2009

The day has finally arrived.
It's Friday and we are all set to get back on the road.
A dual feeling exists - we can't wait to leave, but can't believe two weeks have passed so quickly. Last night we talked about all the things we were going to do while here but didn't.

I'm switching the home page to show Tucson weather instead of Fort Myers Beach. Tucson is our next destination of any duration as we will be there for about two weeks before traveling south to Mazatlan. However, we may get there and just "make a run" for the border sooner than expected.

There has been a little confusion about finding older posts on our blog. The initial page, as you scroll down, has a limited number of posts. However, it does not stop with one page. Reaching the bottom of the page you will see a link to "view older posts". Just click on it to go back in time. As the blog gets longer, you will need to continue to "view older posts" more than once to get to the beginning of the blog.

59 this morning - coolest since we arrived - but the sky is blue and the sun is rising bright. Got to go finish backing up.

Made it to Lake City north of Gainsville today. Very heavy traffic on I-75 north. We are about 100 miles short of where we wanted to be. Traffic was bumper to bumper from north of Tampa to about north of Ocala.

Anthem was having problems with prescription requests flooding their computer system so we were late leaving Fort Myers. Ellen had to have one refilled before we left. The State Park near here was full when we arrived at 5:30 so we had to settle for an RV park near there off of I-75. Turns out not to be too bad for an overnight. For $24.00 per night, it's better than the $40+ we paid in Fort Myers, but obviously not close to anything but the Interstate. We are happy.

We still plan to get to Destin, FL tomorrow and stay at Henderson Beach State Park. Nice beach, nice fish market nearby, and just a very nice park overall.

This place does not warrent pictures so there are none. But I must say that even though we cannot receive tv channels here (I'm not setting up the DirecTv dish for a one night stand) I have the best Verizon connection of the trip for data and voice. A permanent resident here at the park said that the close proximity to the Verizon tower is preventing the TV signal from getting through. Whatever!
